The two most popular methods of numerology are Pythagorean and Chaldean. Though each is a different system, with distinct differences, they both are in agreement on certain things.

Pythagorean System
This method is sometimes called Modern Numerology. It was started about 600 BC when Pythagoras, a mathematician used it. Letters are converted into nos. 1 to 9 and conversion is done in sequence. All compound numbers reduce to single numbers. It uses full name given to the person at birth and thus gives a more realistic meaning. This method is more popular because it is easier to use. The chart given is a Pythagorean chart.

Chaldean System
This method is harder to use than Pythagorean system and thus also sometimes called Mystic Numerology. Letters are converted into nos. 1 to 8 and conversion is out of sequence. It uses the name most known as and the Single and Compound number are both important.

Method of Calculation - It is simply the day of the month on which you were born (apart from the month and year).

Birth Path
The Birthpath Number reveals who you are, what you do best, and whatever natural abilities you have. It also determines your natural tendencies, abilities, and attitude toward the world.
Method of Calculation - It is calculated by adding your Day, Month and Year of Birth, and continuing to add until a single digit is reached.
e.g: 20th April, 1975.   -> 20 + 4 + 1975 = 1999
      1 + 9 + 9 + 9 = 28 -> 2 + 8 = 10 -> 1 + 0 = 1. Therefore, birthpath=1.

Destiny
The Destiny number reveals the purpose, the goal, and direction of your life and what you will tackle and manifest.
Method of Calculation - Your destiny number is the sum of your first, middle and last names where each letter of your name has a numerical value. These values are shown in the Numerology chart given above.
e.g: Rajeev Goswami
r+a+j+e+e+v=25, g+o+s+w+a+m+i=33
25 + 33 = 58 -> 5 + 8 = 13 -> 1 + 3 = 4. Therefore, Destiny number=4.

Realization
Your realization number represents what you might accomplish in life. The Realization number seems to indicate the kind of person you will be or the lifestyle you will have in your later years. It might be seen as what you have learned or accomplished through all your experiences, or a significant part of your identity.
Method of Calculation - The realization number is the sum total of your Birth Path and Destiny numbers.

Heart's Desire
Your Heart's Desire is the inner you, which shows your underlying urge and true motivation. It reveals the general intention behind many of your actions and thus influences the choices you make in life.
Method of Calculation - Heart's Desire is the sum of the vowels in your name.
e.g: Rajeev Goswami. No. of vowels in Rajeev=3, Goswami=3
Total=6. Therefore, Heart's Desire number=6

Personality
As your Heart's Desire is the inner you, your Personality number reveals the outer you, your outward appearance and how others see you; what they define as your habit. It provides us with insight on which aspects of our personality others may recognize and validate.
